I wanted to make a simple bed frame for a folding futon mattress that we could use as a lounging day-bed or guest bed for visiting family. The idea was to make a japanese inspired platform bed with a semi-hard surface for books and things. 

The 1-day-build was made using D.Fir dimensional lumber, finished using a paste-wax, and set together with pocketscrews for easy disassembly. The surface was made using scrap SONOpan acoustic fibreboard wrapped in fabric. 

(Note: We don't actually keep it outside, I just happened to photograph it when I test assembled it on our deck)
