The Bumi Chair is a low-profile, modular seating design combining steel, laser-cut plywood, and upholstered cushions to create a versatile and comfortable piece. Inspired by adaptability and dynamic sitting, the chair features a continuous upholstered seat and back supported by a compound-curved plywood back mounted to a rigid cold-rolled steel frame. Its extended base doubles as a surface for everyday items, allowing the chair to blend into its environment while the blacked steel reveals patterns of use over time. This project was an attempt to balance comfort, utility, and personality, while exploring some new-to-me craft techniques.
