This project was a design collaboration between myself and my bosses two daughters (age 6 and 9). The prompt was for a chiminea to cap their backyard fire pit and it all began from a couple design sketches and material ideas from my two collaborators. The design process was a series of iterative loops that jumped between sketches, physical models, digital models, augmented reality testing, and physical prototypes. The result was three panels of sheet steel folded in three places for rigidity and decorated with handdrawn sketches from the young designers which were cut out on a metal laser cutter.
